I'm going to get my Covid Extension this Friday in Chiang Mai, but each time I've gotten one here they put my visa under review and request I return in 15 days. Is there anyway to avoid that? I'm supposed to be in Phuket and don't think I'll be back in time. It's my understanding that Chiang Mai might be one of the only provinces that do the 15 day under review thing. I'm open to ideas. Thanks for taking time and consideration with my question. Best, Michael

TLDR : Answer Summary
Michael is seeking advice on how to avoid a 15-day wait period after applying for a Covid Extension at the Chiang Mai immigration office, a process he has experienced previously. He mentions needing to move to Phuket and expresses concern about returning on time for the extension. Community responses suggest considering applying in Phuket, although some advise that the Phuket office might also have a similar review process. Overall, the suggestions include changing his address and seeking assistance from other immigration offices without an open Covid extension stamp.
The 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19 is coming to an end. If you don't know if you'd get accepted, apply, and the worse that would happen is they would say no (for now). Thank you.
, I am hoping to do the 60 day Covid extension before it finishes. How strict are they? Can you literally only get 1 if your home country isn't allowing flights?
You could politely try to ask for the full stamp explaining you would like to be in X destination and you would be grateful if they possibly could do that.
If the office does the two step process (under consideration AND then the covid extension) there is no way around it and you sit tight until you get your "loop closed" and that under consideration stamp becomes a covid extension.
No other immigration office will touch an "open" covid extension stamp (the under consideration one)
