Has anyone managed to get a DTV soft-power visa with a dependent?
I keep getting different information I just want to see if anyone has been in my position and pulled it off.
Thank you.
Answer summary
The discussion focuses on the challenges of obtaining a DTV soft-power visa in Thailand with a dependent. Many users share their experiences and advise that the primary applicant must secure the soft-power visa first, after which dependents can apply. Requirements may include proof of legal relationship, financial statements, and applicable fees. However, these requirements can vary significantly based on different embassies. Some users have successfully obtained the dependent visa, while others highlight that many applications face rejection, particularly if financial requirements aren’t clearly met. Additional resources and official embassy contacts are recommended for accurate information.

Just here to help you out.
NO, many get their application rejected due to not meeting requirements.
YES, some got their application apporved due to meeting requirements.
Most important: DO NOT copy the comments with YES, no problem. As it can NOT be used to overrule the decision of the Thai Embassy or in court as proof you need a visa.
There are many people posted on here who have done this. The main applicant applies first, with the soft power. Once approved, the dependent submits an application, including the main applicant’s DTV, marriage certificate or birth certificate to prove legal relationship, bank statement and application fee. What different information are you getting?
Basically one muai thai gym said you can’t have a dependant under the softpower DTV. Another one said you can but you need finances for every dependent so for 2 dependents plus yourself you would need say 1,500,000 bht (48k usd)
So I am just trying to find someone who has done it to figure out if you really need to show funds for your extra dependents.
Reason being I can come up with 15k in a bank account but 48k puts me behind and id have to save up longer so I just want some clarity on it.
I also reached out to my embassy in washington dc US to ask them so I can get it from the source.
FunFish9240 - So, if you look at other posts, having funds for each dependent varies by the specific embassy you apply through. What has been the most common is needing funds for a spouse but not needing for children (just a support letter). However, there have been cases were one didn’t need funds for their spouse and cases where they needed funds for their children.
