How can I apply for a digital nomad visa in Indonesia after getting an approved visa in Jakarta?

Applied in Jakarta — and amazingly, it got approved in just three days

Since I didn’t have much time, I decided to go through an agent. Most of the reviews I read said it would take at least 10 days to get approved, so I booked a 10-day stay in Bali just in case.

But unexpectedly, the visa came through early. With this “extra time” on my hands, I’m now seriously considering going one step further — maybe I should just apply for Indonesia’s digital nomad visa?

That's awesome. I didn't even think about the Indonesian visa. Great idea. I'm assuming it's a little different, any key differences?

It's a yearly visa and you cannot apply online yourself unless they've changed it very recently. I got all the easy through and couldn't pay - it's Indonesian payment system only. I asked immigration and they said only agents can make the application - they charge more of course. It's more expensive to apply inside the country than outside. And an expedited application will also cost more. In general it's more dear, but can lead to permanent residency, allegedly (not that that includes a work permit).

Make sure you have copies of all the documents that were submitted for the application. Someone that had used an agent was asked for their application documents on entry a day or 2 ago. They didnt have them and were denied entry.

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

What can an agent even do to speed things up?

What did the agent even do at all for you? The application is literally only an upload of 4 documents that takes less than 10mins to fill out.

From my personal experience, the agent helped me assess whether it would be more suitable to apply under a “study” or “remote work” status. I initially planned to study Muay Thai, but I also wanted more flexibility with the visa. In the end, I chose the remote work route.

She then helped me organize all my bank records (I have more than one account), and drafted an income explanation letter. She also assisted with preparing a job description and getting a remote work permission letter signed by my employer.

In reality, I submitted well over the standard 4 documents.

Whether each document was strictly necessary — I can’t say for sure. But in my case, this approach made the whole process smoother and saved me a lot of time and effort. Getting approved earlier made it worth it for me.

And honestly, if the service is genuinely good, I don’t mind being seen as someone who’s “promoting” it. The real issue isn’t with people who share useful experiences — it’s with those untrustworthy agents who overpromise and mislead applicants. I’ve encountered those too.

how would you know who is working on person X evisa when its purely online? the logic behind this argument is crazy 🤣 its not like you will find embassy workers in a social media forum waiting for you to talk to them.

lol, it's the embassy processing it. They staff their own citizens to do govt work on behalf of their country. This is not Samsung customer service, where they just outsource that stuff 😂 Not with DTV specifically, but with proper longstay Visa applications, a huge chunk of the official paperwork to submit is in Thai. Do you think they just use Google translate for that?

That was the case when in person but online extremely unlikely now. Agents promote and catch clients with this type of post now.
