Has anybody had experience getting a 60 day tourist visa in Jakarta? I am visiting Bali and thought this would be a better option. Otherwise is Singapore an option?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around obtaining a 60-day tourist visa for Thailand while in Indonesia, particularly from Jakarta or Singapore. Users express frustration about applying at the Thai embassy in Jakarta, citing it as inefficient. It's noted that one cannot get a visa in Bali, and the online application process for Singapore is recommended. Additionally, advice from other users highlights important residency requirements and procedures for applying for a visa, including necessary documentation and proof of residency.

Should be applyed for in the country you are residing.
This info can be found at several Thai Embassy websites in the visa section:
“WHO CAN APPLY FOR E-VISA WITH THE ROYAL THAI EMBASSY
Residents of xxxxx who currently residing in these countries may apply for e-visa with the Royal Thai Embassy in xxxxx through
****************************
. Proof of residency are required.
Those currently residing in other countries should contact the Royal Thai Embassy in their respective countries.
Nationals of xxxxx who are currently traveling in Thailand cannot apply for e-visa with the Royal Thai Embassy in xxxxx through
*****************************
They must contact the Thai Immigration Bureau for visa matters.
Nationals of xxxxx who are currently traveling in other countries and wish to travel to Thailand cannot apply for e-visa with the Royal Thai Embassy in xxxxx. They may either enter Thailand under 30-day tourist visa exemption scheme or contact the Royal Thai Embassy in the countries they are traveling in if they wish to stay in Thailand for longer than the tourist visa exemption scheme allowed. If they wish to apply with the Royal Thai Embassy in xxxxx, those nationals of xxxxx must first return to their respective countries before applying.”
No idea where you got that diatribe from. Certain visas can only be applied for from your home or “resident” country but many embassies or consulates will issue tourist visas to people travelling through their countries.

You won’t get a visa in Bali. Jakarta is your only option from Indonesia these days. Singapore is an online application process. You apply online, upload all the required documents and wait to see if you get approved. If you do you’re given a time to visit the embassy to get your visa affixed to your passport.
