TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK expat inquires about applying for a retirement visa in Thailand and specifically about the criminal background check process, as police stations are closed. The comments suggest that for the Non-O Visa, the background check may not be required, and provide links to where one might obtain a criminal check in the UK. Clarifications are made regarding the visa types and requirements.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

If you have a smartphone, open your Thai account on the app in your phone. Play Store if its Android, go to statements and open on the most recent statement page. Screenshot it and it will end up in your photos on your mobile. Apply via your mobile and attach that photo of your statement to the application.

If you have the smartphone but havent used it for banking purposes before, ask someone more tech minded to download and ask them how you take a screenshot

Most people seem to think because they find something easy, everyone else should 🙄

Ive spent all afternoon trying to update my Wise account (still not completed) and trying to move something from 1 place to another on the laptop! Nightmare 😆

you don't need the money in a Thai bank when applying in UK! Use Thai embassy london, website and not AI, which is often wrong.

Others have explained how to do it, so have I.

Again: apply in UK. No insurance no criminal checks. Fly to Thailand. Open bank account. Deposit money. Apply for 12 month extension based on over 50/ retirement

I wouldn't believe most things AI says as it generalizes alot.

Hence the word typically.

You do an evisa online. Look for non o visa, then click other, then click pensioner over 50 years of age. No requirement for health insurance or police check.

You need to pick the correct Purpose of Visit - in your case Pensioner staying no more than 90 days (where it states Visit Thai Family here) - you selected Non-OA long term stay
