TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether individuals can be denied entry into Thailand while holding a DTV visa. While there are anecdotal reports of denial or complications at immigration, most users suggest that verified cases of denial are rare. Concerns include meeting financial requirements and potential issues stemming from prior immigration history. Overall, while entry denial can occur, it seems largely dependent on specific circumstances rather than the DTV visa itself.

Can you be denied entry on any type of visa? Yes. Can you be denied entry even when you meet all the visa requirements? It’s unlikely, but technically the immigration officer can still decide to refuse entry.

The ongoing debate is about whether the DTV has or will have specific entry requirements at all. Yes, there is nothing specified for now but no rule doesn't mean guaranteed entry and full freedom. Time will tell.

I was pulled aside in immigration waited in a room for an hour then questioned on my last entry in July this year, but ultimately was let in.

The office had originally asked me at the window how long I would stay, I said 6 months and he didn't like it, I corrected myself to say 180 days but he called a supervisor anyway

This was bkk

Literally just came through for the 2nd time this month after spending a few days in Korea. No issues.

Only Anonymous participants and trolls were denied entry with dtv.

Pretty much no verified reports, only hearsay.

Only thing I’ve seen is someone went to Thailand before their DTV got issued, they stayed in Thailand without activating their DTV (you must stay out of Thailand until it’s granted) and then he had 6 month overstay lol

We just did a Loa border run and all smooth. No questions

In and out the same day?

Anonymous participant 622 Yes, one border check point golden triangle was not possible on the same day due to local topics but the neighbor one no issues.

If so, then only for reasons unrelated to the DTV - like illegally working or being of unsound mind, as stipulated in the law.

I saw one unverified TikTok post about someone's friend denied as could not show the 500k at entry. The poster was American and it looked like the friend was from Philippines. As I said unverified so take it with a pinch of salt.

@Greg *******
it’s strange that they would have to show proof of 500,000 thb at entry when that is part of getting the visa, I don’t think they check that at entry

They do not check it at entry. That was the only ever case that I ever saw. There is another regular poster in here saw the same video. As I said it is not verified. The only time, currently, there 500k is checked again after visa issued is if you are applying for an extension in country. You then need to show it in account for previous 30 days.

Saw it on tik tok... Come on man

Saw a video of a guy explaining how he managed to pass immigration at CNX Airport like millions of others… Definitely some of the finest content online. 👌😂 Judging, but certainly not flying high.

The only thing I've heard about that is if you get approved while in Thailand. That comes from an IG story so take it with a grain of salt.

No idea, I watched it on Instagram. I plan on spending the next few days figuring out how to efficiently execute this whole process while out of the US. Any country recommendations would be appreciated because I'm seeing conflicting reports all over the place.

that’s just fraud. Should expect it.

Anonymous participant 839 Agreed, but to be fair, immigration laws are confusing as hell and the ground shifts under your feet. I don't fully understand why I can't apply in my home country, enter on a tourist visa, and transfer to DTV similar to getting an extension. It's all online now, the embassy is still verifying it, what does my physical presence bring to the table?

their country, their rules. Try getting a visa to UK, USA or Australia and you will really find out what difficult is.
