TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the necessity of health insurance coverage for expats in Thailand, specifically focusing on a policy limit of $10,000 (340,000 baht) and whether it needs to explicitly state coverage for COVID-19. Various commenters contribute information regarding the length of the visa and insurance requirements, with suggestions to use comparison tools and brokers for better policy options. There is also mention of specific terms within insurance policies and recommendations for checking insurance options that fulfill Thai immigration requirements.

I plan to buy thE cheapest one, FWD insurance, but I don’t understand this statement “Our plans have 14 days waiting period or the insured shall provide negative PCR test result within 72 hours prior to the policy effective date”. If my flight is on 15 May, does this mean the coverage only start on 30 May? Thanks if someone can help to clarify.

You can use this comparison tool here for the most commonly used policies to enter Thailand.

if you go to the Thaipass website it clearly shows you the answer, and yes it is required. If you really want to go, it will be necessary to actually go there and read all the requirements before applying,

Let's face it these policies are pretty useless anyway as won't be paying out unless have significant symptoms which 99% don't have so I'd guess find the cheapest that will be accepted.

$10,000 is 340,000 baht, a lot of money here.

Don't know the symptoms of covid, and age of the ailed, but .......

My question would be does it have to be for the length of your visa. IE Non O 90 days
