TLDR : Answer Summary
The question revolves around the necessity of a marriage certificate for partners to share a room during Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) in Thailand. The opinions vary: some say it's legally required, while others mention that many ASQ facilities now accept proof of de facto relationships without a marriage certificate. It is advisable to check with the specific ASQ facility for their policies, as practices may differ.

His Question was about ASQ!

What is all this other nonsense?

Officially, the marriage has to be de jure and de facto. However, almost all ASQ allow people to stay in the same room if they can prove they are de facto married and includes same sex marriages.

Ask the ASQ for their policy.

Same sex marriage is de jure, even if not recognised in Thailand. 😉

All I know, is that if your spouse is in Thailand, no you can't, you have to quarantine alone. I don't know about traveling together.

Legally yes. Some don’t require it though

you’re right, you shouldn’t have commented. The ASQ are hospital quarantine rooms located in approved hotels. Hotel rooms are hotel rooms and the hotel owners don’t care who or how many people are staying in the room (unless it’s to get more money of course)

as I said my comment wasn't an answer to the question and was just a thought. Probably should not have commented here, but just had a thought in relation to having to have a marriage certificate to stay in a room as over the years in Thailand I have been asked on 2 occasions in hotels to confirm marital status. Not specific to ASQ. Cheers

Gottfried Winkler what do you mean by “short stay rooms”? ASQ are hotels that have been converted into hospital rooms.

Short stay hotels are hotels booked by the hours for “fun”.

You can stay the night in Thailand with people who aren’t your spouse.
