Can anyone explain this? Selected Thai passport and join partner or family in the UK.

“If you’re staying 6 months or less

You do not need a visa if you’re visiting family or a partner for 6 months or less.”

To me this looks like you don’t need a visa to enter The Uk if you are married. Does anyone have any experience with this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original question inquired whether Thai passport holders require a visa to join family or a partner in the UK for a stay of 6 months or less. Responses clarified that while it may seem that Thai nationals do not need a visa for short visits, they generally need to apply for a visa, especially if they are joining a spouse who is not a citizen of the EU. Options such as the 10-year tourist visa, which allows multiple entries with a maximum stay of 6 months each time, were suggested, although some commenters noted that visa issuance may currently be limited.

Thais need visas. If it is just for trips back to visit family, I recommend getting the 10 year tourist visa, just so your Mrs can go when she wants without having to submit each time. They can go in as many times as they like but each stay is a maximum of 6 months.

Edit : I don't think any visas are being issued at the moment for thais wanting to go to uk

hmmm, nice to see reciprocating agreements in action. If you are Thai and want to visit relatives in the UK you can stay 6 months, if you're British and want to visit your Thai wife in Thailand or a relative in Thailand you get a 2 month visa and a one month extension. Seems fair..........🤔🤭

You could actually stay in the UK if you left every 6 months for a short holiday overseas for 10 years for 35,000 bht on a 10 year tourist visa. In Thailand would need to have 2 elite visas at 500k x 2 😜😁

Yes that is saying that if you are from the EU you can apply for a family permit. The wording is so bad basically it’s saying you don’t need a visa in one paragraph and in the next paragraph is a further option if you are from the EU.

I think the entirety of that page is about the family permit instead of getting a visa. I don't know much about the UK though, and agree it's very poorly written.

yes when you use the visa planner and just select Thai passport and visiting partner or family that is the page you get very poor.
