Hi everyone. If I'm extending my child's (minor) tourist visa, do I require written permission from the other parent as well?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend a child's tourist visa in Thailand, only one parent needs to apply on behalf of the child, and written permission from the other parent is not required.

No. One parent can apply on behalf of the child.

what if they are not a couple anymore and one parent brings the child on holiday?

. You need consent from child's other parent to take them overseas anyway if parents are separated. If you're not sure, ask your embassy..

I know that. That's why I think you will need both parents consent to extend your stay if you are separated.

I’ve been in many times to local immigration offices and extended my children’s visas. They’ve never asked where my wife is. Nor do they ask any details of the other parent. Married or separated. Perhaps some offices may query but my guess is they won’t. Passport control at an airport or border is a different ball game.
