Hello. I am going from India to Thailand with my 12 years Thai national son in near future. His mother (Thai national) is in Thailand. Do I need any permission from his mother to visit Thailand with my son ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A parent traveling with a minor child may require permission from the other parent, especially when crossing borders. In this case, the individual is asking if they need permission from their son's Thai mother to visit Thailand, as the child is a Thai national and the mother resides there. While it is not strictly enforced in many cases, having a written permission letter from the mother is advisable to avoid any potential issues during travel, especially since a recent traveler experienced denial of boarding with their daughter without such documentation.

No idea on the legalities of this. It’s been a case for years for many countries that one parent can’t travel with a child without express permission from the other parent. Very rarely enforced so most would never have an issue.
If you’re on speaking terms with the mother (as it appears you are) then just have her write a note that says “I hereby give my permission for X to travel with my child to visit me in Thailand”. If she can’t write in English then ask a friend to translate and sign it.
Today someone from France (or travelling from there) said they needed a lawyers stamp on it. Never ever heard of that one before but perhaps might be wise to do so just in case.
As said it’s rarely an issue. But if it is then it’s a major headache and best to be prepared beforehand.
well put and good info , but surely doesn’t need to be translated to English , she is Thai immigration is Thai , and traveling from India so maybe translate to India to allow boarding

Thanks Mr. Stuart for a detailed info. I have her permission note, attested by Minisrty of Forigen Affair of Thailand. I got this when I took my son here in India. But never asked by Thai Immigration and as well Indian Immigration or airlines. I think (or do you advise) that permission letter of 'go or come back' will fine when I will come to Thailand in near future ? Thanks

No...
But not even registered marriage. My name is in my son's birth certificate and he is living with me about 5 years here in India. Do I need his Thai mother permission to visit my son's home country (Thailand) with me ?
