Hi, I am planning a trip to Thailand with my family, the kids (under 18) and wife (mother of kids) from the USA. As I was looking at the visa requirements for TR 60 Days (single entry). It says I need:

"Original letter of notarized consent for the minor to travel abroad from mother and father/ legal guardian"

Do I still need to provide this is both parents are travelling together?

Sorry- I posted in another Thailand group, but this looks like a place with visa advice as well. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A parent traveling with children to Thailand typically does not need a notarized consent letter if both parents are accompanying the minors. Concerns usually arise if the parents have different last names or if only one parent is traveling. Additional documents, such as a notarized birth certificate and marriage certificate, may be required for minors under 20, especially for TR visas.

As I was looking into the list some more: here is another one:

7. For minor under 20 years old, please provide following documents :

– Notarized copy of a birth certificate; and

– Notarized copy of marriage certificate.

Again, has anyone needed to file this for TR Visa?

So when applying for our visa we don't need to submit this?

apply, worst case scenario they ask for the documents.

if the mother and father are traveling together, there is no documents required to bring the child to Thailand.

The purpose of those notary documents is to prevent international kidnapping

As long as all the last names are the same on all your passports you'll have no problems. It gets to be a problem, and why you'd need the notarized letters if one of the adults, male, or the female, last name is different, or one of the kids. Any suspicion of trafficking, or kidnapping by a parent that is not sole guardian raises serious issues when they leave their home country, but if all last names are the same no problem

I can’t see why you’d need a consent letter if you are both traveling with your children.
