Hello, everyone. I'm an international student studying in Bangkok on an ED visa. Recently, I traveled back to my country to renew my passport. Prior to leaving Bangkok, I obtained a re-entry stamp. When I returned to Thailand, the immigration officer at the airport made a note in my new passport about my previous ED visa without providing further instructions.

So, I'm uncertain about whether I need to visit the immigration office for an additional stamp on my new passport. Has anyone experienced something similar or can provide some guidance?

Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an international student in Bangkok on an ED visa, is seeking guidance on whether they need to visit the immigration office after returning with a new passport that contains a note from immigration regarding their previous ED visa. A commenter advises that it is necessary to visit local immigration within 72 hours of arrival to inform them of the return, request any relevant stamps to be applied to the new passport, and obtain a new TM30.

You have to visit your local immigration for multiple reason within 72 hours of arrival 1) inform them you are back, 2) ask for any relevant stamps to be re-applied to your new passport 3) request a new tm30! Immigration officials at the airport only stamp you in, if you can be admitted, the rest is up to you!
