TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your Non-B visa, you must visit an immigration center. If you're waiting on a work permit, you can stay on an amnesty until July 31, but you cannot work without a permit. You must apply for a one-year extension with your employer; a 30-day extension is not available for Non-B visas.
your non immigrant visa is signed used and became invalid the day you entered Thailand. This is not a tourist visa, please do not compare tourists and people working in Thailand.
I'm currently waiting for my work permit to be processed but I am still waiting on several signatures. If it is not done soon, will I have to visit immigration for an extension of 30 days? If I do not extend, will it still be valid as a non b by the 31st of July?
The non b is valid until the 18th of June and I don't have to extend it after 2 months? This is my first non b and I am comparing it to tourist visas I have been on before.
if your one year extension not completed by June 18...you will be on amnesty extension until July 31. But will have to start all over again to get another NonB. You cannot work under the amnesty extension.
If you decide not to get a one year extension of stay based on employment, you can stay up to July 31 on the amnesty. However, you can not work (unless you already have a work permit), and you will need to get a new Non-B visa when you return.
You'll also need to be careful about which consulate you can use to get another Non-B visa. For example, Vientiane only issues Non-B visas one time each year, if you don't have proof of a cancelled work permit.
You need to get a one year extension of stay based on employment, if you are working. You, and your employer, will go to CW and get the extension of stay based on employment together.
