Do I need to specify a date of first entry for my DTV visa, and can I leave Thailand for six months after a short stay?

Hi all.

If I get my DTV, do you have to put the date of first entry in? Or can you just come whenever?

Also, if I stay for example two weeks, is it fine if I then leave for six months and then come back?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Once you obtain your DTV (Digital Tourist Visa), you will need to specify a date of first entry on the application. However, this date is not strictly binding; you can enter Thailand at any time within the five-year validity of the visa, even years later. Additionally, after entering Thailand, you can stay for a maximum of 180 days before leaving, and there's no restriction on returning after a period of absence, such as six months.

The application will ask for a date of entry, but you won’t be held by that. Once you have the visa you could enter 5 years later should you wish.

The visa is valid for 5 years and you can come and go as you wish. 6 days, 6 weeks or up to 180 days.
