Do I need to specify a date of first entry for my DTV visa, and can I leave Thailand for six months after a short stay?

Hi all.

If I get my DTV, do you have to put the date of first entry in? Or can you just come whenever?

Also, if I stay for example two weeks, is it fine if I then leave for six months and then come back?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a DTV visa, you need to specify a date of first entry, but it is not restrictive; you can enter Thailand at any time before the visa's validity ends, which is five years. After an initial stay of two weeks, you are allowed to leave Thailand for an extended period, such as six months, and return whenever you wish as long as it is within the visa's validity period.

You are free to enter (and leave within 180 days) at any time

The application will ask for a date of entry, but you won’t be held by that. Once you have the visa you could enter 5 years later should you wish.

The visa is valid for 5 years and you can come and go as you wish. 6 days, 6 weeks or up to 180 days.
