After getting an approved DTV is there a requirement of when you must enter Thailand by to activate your first year 180 days?

I want to apply now but we aren’t going until December.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After getting an approved DTV (Digital Nomad Visa), it is generally required that you enter Thailand within 3 months of your visa application date. Many users suggest applying no more than 90 days before your intended trip to avoid any complications. While the DTV visa allows for multiple entries over five years, each entry grants you a 180-day stay starting from the date the visa is issued.

i will be leaving in 3 months and 1 week... but going overseas until then with only a few days back home so should i apply now and just arrive over the 3 months? put a date under 3 months on the DTV application and "change my mind" once issued?

It states on the official website that you should be traveling within 3 months from applying for the visa

Starts from the day it's issued I've read from many people's personnel accounts that have already acquired the DTV visa

Good luck Squire ....

No restrictions, however the official application rule is that you “shouldn’t” apply further out than 3 months prior to arrival. There is no way for them to check though since you can enter a random flight number/date when applying via evisa.

The visa is valid for entry 5 years from the date of issue.

Most consulates have a notice saying don't apply for the DTV earlier than 90 days before your trip, This would lead me to believe they want you to enter thailand within 3 months of the visa being issued (although it is in theory a FIVE YEAR visa and any time you enter you get stamped in for 180 days)

What is your reasoning for wanting to apply now?

i am in the uk now but will head to europe for 3 months and be back a week before heading to thailand. hopefully can apply now and leave for thailand in 3.5 months. awaiting response from embassy but they have in the past just given generic replies and links with no further info

Probably caution in case they decide to scrap the DTV.

Makes sense. So many people applying and getting approved easily. I'd be scared they'd change it too.

we are already seeing consulates in the area tightening up the requirements,

When the visa first rolled out it was show 500k in the bank the day you apply, then

some went to show 500K in the bank for 3 months the day you apply,

and

now some are show 500K in the bank for SIX months the day you apply

plus

you have to log in to the mobile app or online banking and show the balance too 😮

Yea, I heard this too. I have been thinking of applying later but now I'm thinking sooner is best.
