Do I need a re-entry permit for my DTV if I leave Thailand temporarily?

Apr 29, 2025
I have a DTV valid until July 2025. I plan to travel outside of Thailand temporarily. Do I need a re-entry permit to leave and return? When I come back to Thailand, will my visa still be valid with the same expiry date?

I would appreciate it if anyone could answer. Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a DTV visa that's valid until July 2025, you do **not** need a re-entry permit to leave and return to Thailand. Your visa allows for multiple entries, and upon re-entry, you will be granted a new 180-day stay, though the visa itself remains valid until its original expiration date in 2025. It's important to recognize that while the DTV is a multi-entry visa valid for five years, each entry permits a stay of only 6 months before requiring an extension or exit to reset the stay limit.

It's a 5 year visa, likely it's your entry stamp only valid till July 2025? The visa itself should state 2029 or so.

DTV is already multi entry. You can just leave and come back to get another 180 days stamp.

It's a five-year visa, but each entry is valid for only six months and requires an extension.

I am genuinely astounded that so many do not even grasp the basics about this visa. The length, extensions, re-entry, 90 Day Reporting etc etc.
