Hi all, just a quick question as I am unsure on the answer. When you are using the banked money (400k) for a marriage to a Thai extension of stay, does the money in the bank have to show to be of international origin or not?
(As I want to use some of that money and replace it later)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the moderators and experienced expats on this site for all their great information on this site. I successfully switched from an O-A visa, to a visa waiver, to an in country O visa and finally to an extension based on marrage this year and I couldn't have done all that without all the great information that you people provide.
Many thanks ππ»

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a marriage visa extension in Thailand, the funds in your bank account do not need to be of international origin. However, for an in-country 90-day Non-O visa, the funds must show they were transferred in from abroad, and should be held in your account for at least two months before applying for the extension.

IF you are applying for a yearly extension of stay (from an earlier extension OR a Non-O visa) you do not show where the money can from only that it was in your account for 2 months before you apply for the extension
BUT
IF you are applying for an in country 90 day Non-O VISA you show the money was transferred in from out of the country
Tod is correct. I did a 60-day extension of an Non-O yesterday at Chaengwatthana. The next one I will do is a 1-year extension with 400K in the bank and the IO said it doesnβt matter where the money comes from but it has to be in the account for 60 days before applying.
