ORIGINAL POSTER
I will soon be transferring 800 baht to my Thai bank account for my extention of stay.

I have been told that is it not necessary to show that this money had been transferred from an overseas account.

Is this correct or, must it show as coming from an overseas transfer.

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an Extension of Stay in Thailand, it is generally not required to show that the 800,000 baht came from an overseas transfer. One comment mentions that they have had successful extensions without proving the origin of the funds. However, if applying for a Non-Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years old, then proof of foreign transfer may be required.

I'm shutting this post down. I can't follow it, we have people talking about having permanent residence, others talking about extension of stays based on marriage, others talking about getting the first Non-O visa (based on retirement, I think).

All are different concepts. And it's completely muddled to me.

Ray, you got good advice. Good luck.

You can obtain an EXTENSION OF STAY for the OA you are on...

But will need to provide proof of health insurance to obtain it.

Is that what you want to do?

And in reading your post of November 2019

You were on an O-A.

What are you on now ?

"I'm on a type O-A, multiple entry visa.

I first entered Thailand in December 2018.

I travelled back to Australia in July 2019 and returned in August 2019. On return I was stamped in for another 12 months, to August 2020.

My question is-

am I still able to take advantage of Multiple Entries 'till August 2020, or will I need to get a rentry visa each time I travel?

Regards"

The only time that the full amount of 800.000 Thb must be shown as foreign transfer is when you apply at Immigration Office for the Non Immigrant O visa based on being over 50 years of age.

For application of Extension of Stay there is no need to proof where the money came from.

I just had my extension today.. They never asked to see that 800k came from overseas.. Normally I fill cash 2 months before visa extension since 3 years.. And is always ok.. But today they checked that I kept 400k minimum on account all year😉
