When crossing the border on the new Bangkok to Vientiane train, do I need to have my Laos visa ready to show on the train or is there a place to obtain the visa upon disembarking the train?

Yes I found a great journey diary he wrote. Apparently they stop the train before crossing the border to clear immigration and you can apply on the spot or come prepared with E visa

He's done the old train. The one that you need to change at the border. New train is going straight to Vientiane from July this year
