Regarding "proof of funds" when entering Thailand, do you have to show 10,000 (or 20,000) baht in Thai currency or can you have the equivalent in another major currency (USD, GBP,) or both combined? (eg. 5,000 baht + $200). Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand, you need to show proof of funds of either 10,000 or 20,000 Baht. However, you can present this amount in other major currencies (like USD or GBP) as long as their equivalent value meets the requirement. Many travelers have reported that while they have not been personally asked to show this proof, it is advisable to carry the required amount in cash or an equivalent of major currencies.
Immigration can ask. Two options: You have and enter Thailand to enjoy your stay, or you don't have and sit again in an airplane to other destination. The choice to bring cash is yours. It is in cash and equivelant currency is allowed. And with the words of Michael I close this topic for commenting: "Thanks to those people who answered my question.".
That you (and many other people) have not been asked to show proof of funds when stamping into the country does NOT mean that there is no requirement to show proof of funds when asked.
