If I apply for a non immigrant “o” visa for marriage in the US, must I send them my passport? If so how long does it take to get approval and get my passport returned?
My concern is i need my passport for travel outside US while this is being approved.
Any suggestions as to best Thai Embassy on East Cosst US? Washington?
Thank you all in advance for the guidance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a non-immigrant 'O' visa for marriage at a Thai embassy in the US, you do not need to send your passport, as the Thai embassies utilize an E-visa system. The application can be handled without mailing your passport, alleviating concerns about travel while waiting for the visa approval. It's advisable to apply at the embassy or consulate that covers your area of residence. Additionally, for those currently in Thailand, it's worth noting that one may need to apply from the US, depending on individual circumstances.
Sorry, maybe I'm in a mood. Yes, you can apply for an Evisa while in Thailand. Being on a current visa wouldn't effect anything, people transition from one type to another all the time.
That reads wrong. I am not questioning your answer. I was only wondering why I could not apply from Thailand. I have given it more thought and they would not be able to issue a visa when I am already on a visa. Didn’t mean to offend.
