Is it better to apply for a Non-Immigrant 'O' visa based on marriage in the United States or in Thailand?

Thanks as always for you direction and insight.

I am now legally married to my Thai wife (marriage in Thailand).

I want to apply for a non-immigrant “O” visa based on marriage. I opened my Thai bank account and have now returned to the United States awaiting the 2 month process of my funds sitting in that bank account before I can apply for my visa.

My question is: is it better/easier to apply for a non-immigrant “O” based on marriage in the United States through the Thai Consulate or return to Thailand on a tourist visa and apply for the “O” visa in Thailand?

Thoughts....

Thank you 🙏🏻

Jeff Dimick @For financial is it Thai bank only? If proving only 40k baht per month how many month stubs do you need? if lump sum it must sit in the bank for 2 months only? thanks

if you are from a country whose consulate doesn't issue the affidavit of income from abroad notary letters anymore (US, UK, Australia & Denmark) AND you want to use monthly income to meet the proof of funds for a yearly extension you need to transfer in to the country from overseas a minimum of 40K baht a month into a thai bank account in your name only each month every month for the previous year OR you need to legally work here (with a work permit) and make over 40K baht a month

yes. Can get work permit with O Visa based on marriage but not O-A retirement visa

O visa based on a thia spouse only removes the need for a B visa. You'll still need a work permit to teach.
