While registering my wife address at Chiang Rai immigration for local driving licence, having a Non O multiple I was told to report my address everytime I return to Thailand. To check is it a necessary procedure? I thought only a 1 year extension single non o need to do that.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When holding a Non-O multiple entry visa in Thailand, it's generally understood that you do not have to report your address every time you return, particularly if it's a one-year multi-entry visa. However, some individuals suggested using the TM.30 registration process for address updates, especially for those looking to maintain legal compliance. Notably, the requirement may vary based on individual circumstances and advice suggests that unless you have a special condition or situation, it's usually acceptable to forgo this reporting after returning from abroad.

Here's a thought though. If you want to be "legal" have your mother in law go online and use the TM.30 program that hotels and guesthouses use. Private individuals can use it too.

In theory, you're supposed to go and re-file (update) your TM.30 form when you come back into the country. However being on the visa you're on, and needing to bounce out&in every 90 days AND seeing as with that visa you never need to go to the immigration office for anything I'd say you'd be okay NOT doing it.

Remember though, IF you did need to go to the immigration office for something and you hadn't re-filed a TM.30 they could fine you the 1600baht fine when you showed up there.. :/ Just saying. .. . :(

What were you registering your wife's address at the immigration office for? If you hold a year-long, multi-entry Non-O you never need to go to the immigration office. :/

Now you've opened a can of worms that you can't put the lid back on. :(

Yes just had a week in Vietnam and had to show my passport at immigration office, (or rather my landlord had to) in Chiangmai to see new stamp.
