TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the requirements for applying for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand, especially in the context of new regulations due to COVID-19. Key points include: - There is no explicit requirement for a return ticket for the tourist visa, although having proof of departure may be necessary for airline boarding. - Proof of accommodation is required after quarantine but does not necessarily have to be for the entire stay; booking for the first few days may suffice. - Additional requirements include showing sufficient funds (500,000 THB), and possibly having COVID-19 insurance before application. - It's advised to check with the relevant embassy for the most current regulations and requirements.

Ok so what I am confused about is that is states once you have applied for the tourist visa you then have to apply for the certificate of entry it’s at that point that you book your flight and ASQ HOTEL ?? ! Please see above

it was like that for other visa’s. If you are applying for 60 day tourist visa you need

- flight booking

- hotel booking

- bank statements for past 6 months over £12,800

Once you have the visa in your passport you can apply for a certificate of entry. You will need

- flight booking

- bank statements

- ASQ booking

- sufficient insurance

I think it will be the same with Phuket.

1. Passport

2. Passport photo

3. TM7 form

4. Sor Tor Mor 2 Form

5. Covid Form (To specifythe reason why you need to extend visa)

6. Copy of passport, latest visa, departure date stamp, TM6, TM30

Can you do this visa online and send passport away or do you need to attend in person ?

Also, what’s the lead time from applying and getting your passport back if your flight has already been booked? Just to gauge how much time to leave between flying and applying

before COE yes not visa. Only thing you need for your visa is hotel confirmation, flight booking and 6 months bank statements netting the minimum balance requirement

but I’m 99.9% sure for the visa it’s only the accommodation after the ASQ and for the COE it’s just the ASQ booking

Not sure but send both anyway if you have them. One confirmed ASQ booking and one up in the air agoda booking confirmation which you don’t need to pay for

The Embassy in London emailed me to say a one way ticket is fine because I said I’m unsure of the exact date I’d be coming home 👍. In terms of accommodation just go on Agoda and find a hotel that offers “pay at hotel” and book it. You will then get a confirmation sent to your email which you can use for your application and then cancel it 👍. Then you are free to book what you want, when you want and where you want

I tell everyone to avoid Agoda as they ripped me off in September 2019. Never got to fallow it up but I will do so from Wat before Christmas and they will also make donations to a couple of charities. They pulled a stroke through their Singapore office and I made the mistake of accepting the lies I was told at cental world.

Agoda Singapore office used an email account I had previously used to falsely claim that they paid a Vagas hotel for which they advertised a discount. They never paid Queens who were kind enough to give me a letter explaining why they had no associations with them. Agoda frustrated my attempts to get the £150 they stole by switching from email to Facebook to Twitter. I know who Thai trading standards are but I went to their Bangkok office and accepted their lies that I was getting a refund on 30 January. You know what happened next. Check their Facebook and Twitter feeds and you will see apart from their own staff lying about their services most posts are complaints. I hope your good fortune continues.

booking dot come has far less complaints but I am the same. Getting direct responses from hotels and resorts just make sense. Plus discounts on return visits are frequent.

The airline may actually require you to show something to prove you will be leaving the country. They did pre covid for a tourist visa. I've had to show them a ticket I had bought from another airline for a border bounce.

I did it for the whole lot because I’m cancelling it anyway. I’ve actually done my flight and accommodation based on 90 days so hopefully they don’t knock me back for that. I’ve always done it that way on a tourist visa in the past

You need proof you will be leaving the country either with a fixed date return, or an open return ticket. But either way, you need a ticket away from thailand

According to the Canberra embassy, you do need proof of accommodation AFTER the quarantine period, but no mention of onward flight/travel

if they are working off the rules of pre Covid then it’s just the first day or so. They know tourists move around and rarely pre book their entire stay. That said these are new times. I guess you may have to ask your embassy for clarification as no one here can give you a definitive answer (yet).

Having a return ticket isn't on the list of requirements and there's nothing about an outbound ticket on the application, nor any mention of proof of accommodation after quarantine.

I’m guessing as the tourist visa option is still too new (after Covid) to have had any reports. I would think you’d need a return flight or at least a flight out of Thailand within 90 days. 90 because you can get an in country extension for 30. I doubt you need proof of accommodation after your ASQ hotel. Again only surmising as too few people have got these (and posted their experiences).

No STA new but London and I assume everyone else are taking applications for visas now. I am only going for 45 days. Unless I win the lottery. As I don't I expect to I got return on skyscanner, am having the test do well out of the way of the NHS, got 1 year travel insurance that will cover me for the USA in September next year or I get full refund. I also got hotel with balcony and sea view in Pattaya and am going wat for one week to keep everyone happy except sister who is still pissed at Biden winning.
