TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the STV (Special Tourist Visa) for Thailand and the accommodation requirements associated with it. One user suggests that paying only one month in advance for a rental agreement is sufficient, while another points out that the STV conditions state you must have accommodation booked for the entire stay. However, they note that since the STV is valid for 90 days, booking for three months should be adequate given the nature of the visa. A third comment advises considering a different visa type (Non-O) if the applicant has dependents in Thailand.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

Better to get type o visa if you have dependent here

The wording on the conditions for the STV says you must have accommodation booked for your entire stay. As the STV only lasts 90 days, and extending it is optional you just don’t mention anything about wanting to stay 9 months. Therefore 3 would be sufficient. I might add that that the requirement for booking your entire stay is crazy, but that’s how they word it.
