Question: so I’m doing a run in Vietaine, once I go to pick up all my documents on the second day and pay my baht, do I have to pay anything more entering back into Thailand? We’re going across the border by bus. Ed visa.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When re-entering Thailand after picking up documents for your Ed visa in Vientiane, you won't have to pay any additional fees for the immigration stamp as it is free. However, you will need to cover your transport costs, such as the bus fare to the border.

Thai Immigration will stamp your passport for free with a new Admitted to Stay stamp. As we do not offer travel advice on costs of bus fares and taxis I close the commenting.

What kind of visa are you seeking? Have you obtained it before from Vientiane ?

you may be right. I assumed...

wrongly...she was applying for a visa at Vientiane.

But I never heard the Lao government, or the Thai government, charging someone to leave Lao or re-enter Thailand if they aren't Thai. For some reason my Thai wife does get dinged for 30THB by the Lao government, but that's not connected to the OP.

@Benjamin *****
that is WHY I ASKED.

We don't know what type of visa the OP is getting though.

Returning may not be the only problem.

I don't see how that's connected to returning to Thailand.

Only your transport to the bridge and the bus across the bridge.
