"Hello everyone, I am from Hong Kong and planning to apply for the DTV Soft Power visa. Since I intend to bring my family with me, I have a few questions I’d like to clarify.

First, do I need to successfully obtain my visa before I can assist my family with their applications?

Based on your experience, does the Thai government require applicants to submit a Criminal Record Check (CNCC)? I’ve noticed that some people do not apply at the Thai consulate in their home country—for example, some individuals from Western countries apply at the Thai consulate in Vietnam. How do they handle the criminal record check requirement in those cases?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry pertains to the DTV Soft Power visa and the process of applying for family members. It clarifies that the primary applicant must secure the DTV visa before helping family members with their applications. Furthermore, there is no requirement for a Criminal Record Check for the DTV visa, unlike the LTR visa, which necessitates such a check.

The LTR visa allows you to work, the DTV soft power does not.

What is the real reason your family want to move to Thailand?

We aren't looking for a permanent relocation to Thailand. Instead, we want a flexible insurance policy for our family's travel freedom and asset protection due to the political climate in Hong Kong. We need a 10-year residency program that doesn't impose a 'physical presence' requirement. Thailand is our top choice because it offers the best value for money, especially when compared to the high taxes and expensive lifestyle in Western countries

Soft power means following the course you applied for, therefore you NEED to be in Thailand.

If you want freedom to travel, just apply for a tourist visa

The LTR visa is hands down the best visa if you qualify for it

I am considering whether to apply for the DTV visa or the LTR visa, especially since I realized the LTR visa requires a criminal record . Which one do you think is better? While the LTR visa has a higher cost, it offers a 10-year stay and eliminates the need to leave Thailand every year.

There's no criminal record check for the DTV visa.

YES you MUST first get the DTV visa for yourself before applying for your family members.
