My family and I would like to apply for the DTV online.

What's the best / correct approach:

1. Submit my application first, and only once it's been approved, submit my wife's and daughter's application afterwards?

2. Or can we submit multiple - main and dependent - DTV applications together in one submission on the same day?

Can anyone here share some pointers? Many thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The correct approach for applying for the DTV online for your family is to first submit your application. Once your DTV is approved, you can then submit applications for your wife and daughter, as one of the required documents for their applications is the already issued DTV of the sponsor (you). It's important to be aware that the application process may be slow, particularly in Malaysia, potentially taking around two months in total for all applications.

First of all, just know that Malaysia is one of the worst places when it comes to DTV applications. They are VERY slow request documents you already sent multiple times, and just make the entire process very complicated and and difficult.

Second, one of the required documents for a dependent DTV is the already issued DTV of the sponsor. So you must get your DTV before you can submit anyone else's application.

Given the timelines for Malaysia, and that you have to submit twice, I would expect at least 2 months total for the entire process if you do it there.

- I hear you, apparently it's better to submit my application with another Thai embassy, e.g. those in Vietnam.

But then, I'm wondering: since everything (submission, communication, rejection / approval) happens through online channels - can I submit on the Thai e-Visa website, chose the Vietnamese embassy, all while physically staying in Malaysia?

No. You must show proof of your location through an entry stamp in your passport. And the embassy do spot checks by scheduling interviews and checking your passport.
