I now have my non-immigrant type O-A visa and will be moving to Chiang Mai in June. From all I can see, I will NOT have to do a visa run every 60-90 days. This is good for an entire year. Am I correct?

TLDR : Answer Summary
With a non-immigrant type O-A visa, you will not need to perform visa runs and can remain in Thailand for up to one year from your entry date. However, it is mandatory to report to immigration every 90 days and complete a TM 30 residence form within 24 hours of your arrival. Your visa allows for multiple entries, but follow-up actions like reporting and potential re-entry permissions are essential to maintain your residing status.
okay if you have a year-long, multi-entry Non-O-A visa that you got from a thai consulate in another country BEFORE you came here, you do NOT do visa runs or border bounces.
Check your entry stamp , on an O-A visa <- (note the A after the O) you get stamped in for a year at a time.
Now as people pointed out you DO need to do 90 day reporting at the immigration office AND you (or the place you stay at) does need to file a TM.30 foreigner in residence form within 24 hours of you taking up residence here.
Good Luck

You do not need to make a visa run but you will need to check in with immigration every 90 days.

As already mentioned, you can leave Thailand as often as you want on the O-A visa and it will always stamp you in for 365 days within it's validity data, which is one year. So you will still get stamped in for 365 days if you were to enter Thailand on it's last valid day, giving you effectively another year. After the visa has expired and you stilll have that 365 day stamp you must buy a re-entry permit if you want to exit Thailand again and not loose that right to stay. So be sure to get the re-entry permit for that "second" year.
if no resister with extension can be a problem imm knowns everything in the computer also where you stay in out etc!

Hotels must do tm30 registeration by the law. You mustn't worry about that. If you stay with a friend or in rental, you should make sure to get it done. Many landlords are aware can take care of it online in CM. But better you ask a print out. Hotels, no worries.
Because you have a Multi-Entry Visa - if you leave Thailand for a holiday during a 90 day report day - then your 90 day report date gets reset to 90 days from your return. However, you still must report to Immigration within 24 hours after reentering Thailand

Paul - the O-A still only comes as Multi-Entry... There is no Single Entry O-A Visa... Note the "A"... this is not an "O" Visa
I’ve looked hard for this type of information on the Thai Embassy website and can’t see what the requirements are. I appreciate the quick responses on this FB page but where can I get this information? I feel I need to understand all these requirements better.
read his post correctly, he is NOT talking about reporting - he is talking about visa runs (leaving the country) and whether he has to leave every 90 days... fool

You still have to do you 90 day report, if you have an multiple entry visa you only need to to do a visa run after just before your 12 months so you get your second 12 months if you require it, but remember your second 12 months doesn’t carry they Multiple entry aspect so you would have to got to immigration to pay for your second year should you wish to leave Thailand

Based on being over 50 .. Correct .. just still must do your 90 day reporting

Rhonda Faught. In practice your landlord should be filing your TM30 whenever you return to Thailand. They can actually do this online so your attendance at the immigration office is not required. Check to see if your landlord is registered for this service, and whenever he/she files get a print of the transaction as your evidence of the reporting

Because you have to report to immigration within 24 hours of reentering Thailand - the idea of not having to do 90 day reports is a moot point
and Joe D Greene I will be traveling in and out of Thailand so I’m not worried about that part. The next question is do I have to report to immigration and file a TM 30 each time I re enter Thailand if it’s done in less than 90 days?

No - you are wrong. You must not only report every 90 days. But upon arrival into Thailand and upon exit and arrival again you must report to immigration and file a form TM 30 within 24 hours
