TM30 question:

If the rule is that you don't need to file a TM30 after returning from a domestic trip, do I need to file one after returning from an international trip when I obviously spent a night in a Bangkok hotel under quarantine?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement to file a TM30 form after returning to Thailand depends on the specific rules enforced by the local Immigration Office. Generally, a foreigner must register at the local Immigration Office within 24 hours after arriving at an address in Thailand. This includes stays in hotels while under quarantine. It is recommended to check with the local Immigration Office for the specific policies, as they may vary by location.

I see your other post in a Chiang Mai Expat group. I'm going to close comments on this post.

Each immigration office has their own policies for the TM30. Chiang Mai has an immigration office website and a Facebook page:

Either contact the relevant Chiang Mai immigration office, OR contact them on their website for the policy.

Thank you.

I removed a couple of comments. This is an "ask the local immigration office" question. Bangkok is strict about requiring a TM30 to be filed no later than one business day after you arrive at a residence.

besides it's on his FB profile I know who op is as he's been a member of various Chiang Mai groups for years including several I'm a mod on.

The rule is: a Foreigner needs to be registered at the local Immigration Office within 24 hours after arriving at an address in Thailand. This can be done with the TM30 form.

How the rule is enforced, like every address change, schort or longer holidays abroad or national, is up to your local Immigration Office. There are more than 70 offices nationwide, contact yours for the correct information.
