Hi folks , I'm thinking of applying for a soft dtv next year , my question is as this is a 5 year visa , if I move provinces is it just a matter of registering my new address or is it more complicated than that ? Would it affect my visa negatively?

TLDR : Answer Summary
You can move freely within Thailand on a Soft DTV visa. However, if you stay in the country for more than 90 consecutive days, you must report your address to the local immigration office. Additionally, if you stay over 180 days in a year, you will be considered a tax resident. Ensure that you have a TM30 filed for your new address at the local immigration office.

Your only consideration is doing a 90 day report, that is if you stay in country 90 consecutive days, you'll need to do it where you have a TM30 already filed, or file a new TM30 in the area covered by X immigration office.

Once you have the visa you can go wherever you like within Thailand.

You do need to report your address to the local immigration office whenever you stay for more than 90 continuous days within the country.

And if you stay over 180 days within a calendar year, then you're supposedly considered a tax resident.

Not related at all. Move where you like. The only thing to do is have TM30 registered at your new local Immigration Office.
