TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a marriage visa in Thailand, you must deposit 400,000 baht into a bank account. You can use a savings account for this purpose, as many in Thailand refer to current accounts as savings accounts. While you can also show proof of a monthly income of 40,000 baht, regulations can differ; some immigration offices now prefer an income affidavit from your embassy over monthly transfers. It's important to ensure funds remain accessible and to maintain the 400,000 baht balance for at least three months before applying for the visa.

I’m pretty sure almost half of the comments here is posted by people who didn’t care whether their unbelievable wisdom has any relevance to the question from the OP.

So let me add something extremely important (equally not) related to the question:

Songkran is in April.

Have a great day, all, and remember you shouldn’t be drinking when posting or commenting on Facebook.

To the OP: Sorry that you have to wade through all the rubbish in your thread. My suggestion is to repeat your post, but not on a Friday when the bar visitors crawl out of their holes of boredom and meaningless lives. 🤣

The answer to your question:

In Thailand they refer to a current account as “Savings account”. It’s the same thing.

It goes in a black hole 🕳️ which pretty much sums it all up!

400 000 in a saving account, like mine ,So, to be in the account for three months to be on saveside , and note from the bank saying that the money is still in it and six months of transactions it must not go lower than 400,000 buats at any time, or 3months will start from time it's back to 400,000 buats so 3months before you apply for the visa or extention of yearly extention

it's 2 months prior to the date of applying for extension. Just don't mess up by a day or two. Some office also require you to show an updated bank book with the 400k when coming back getting your stamp after the under considérations Tamp.

What are you talking about 6 months of transactions ? Did your immigration office asked you to prove how you sustained yourself in Thailand ?

Obviously Baht 😁

My pension is only 30.000 a month, Will I still be able to retire there
Wayne ********
@Barry ***********
not unless you can come up with 800,000 and leave it in the bank untouched since you will not be able to qualify for a monthly deposit of 65k per month
Nitesh ******
it has to be saving account .

Don't get married, and keep your money.
George *******
@Nicolas ********
The money has to be in an account in your name, so at least you can't lose that 400,000 THB. Once your married, it's the same as getting married in any country, bloody expensive 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Then later along comes the divorce and it gets much more expensive 😡😡😡

@Nicolas ********
unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.

An instant access thai savings account is fine.

You need deposit to thai account for 12 month extension and season funds 2 months.. For initial visa you can show your foreign account statements. When i did apply they needed 15.000€ balance and 6 month statements.
Randy ******
@Pertti ************
Initial visa: You mean FIRST visa you apply to after the 90 days visa? You don’t need 800 k in a Thai Bank yet? Just proof of funds from back home?

@Randy *****
- i currently have 800,000 seasoning. I’m also transferring more than 65,000 per month thru Wise App (seeding my year 2 extension). Am i correct in designating the monthly

transfers from my USA bank as “Rent and Living Expenses” or do the Extension of Stay granting authorities only authorize transfers listed as “Foreign Transactions?”
Matthew *********
@Randy *****
you can't use the monthly deposit on the first year. The

0 is required and than on next extension if your embassy provides affidavit. American embassy doesn't do it.
Pertti *************
@Randy *****
I mean for 90day initial visa. After 90day 12month extensions need seasoned funds 400k or 12months income from thai company or affidavit for foreign income deposited to thai account.
Graham ******
@Pertti ************
many Immigration Offices now only accept income as affidavit from the Embassy or wages from working in Thailand not the 12 monthly transfers of 40k

What about Bangkok???
Bart **************
There isn't really a difference between those in Thailand. They call current accounts saving accounts.

prove that you have an income of more than 40,000 bht a month easy or if you want retire an income of more than 80,000bht a month.

@Moshi ****
Where do you come up with this bullshit?
Moshi *****
well I lived Thailand 10years and only had to show income by bank statements that i'd down loaded from my bank account. No problem.

@Moshi ****
but you also said the monthly pension amount was THB 80k and you were wrong about that as well 🤦

@Matthew ********
it’s the same as the retirement visa requirement 800k/65k per month but if you are married to a Thai it’s 400k/40k per month. Many expats married to Thais use the 40 K per month to satisfy the requirement. FYI they will all except an income affidavit from your embassy if can get one. US, UK, AUS embassy will not give one.
Matthew *********
@Wayne *******
true. Our embassies are not here to help expats.

yes he knows that - his comment was a correction of a comment from a guy who said retirement was 80k per month. You misunderstood

It has to be in account that is immediately accessible

Saving account is the easiest option to keep the immigration happy as you can get the money transferred into your account in your country

what does this mean ?

@Bobby ******
you have to be able to get your money easily so if your told to leave the country then you can go with your money
