Hi. Can someone please share if "Employment Prohibited" is a common remark for the Workcation category ?

Sharing a screenshot from my Visa.
Answer summary
The conversation revolves around whether the note "Employment Prohibited" is standard for visas related to the Workcation category in Thailand. Many contributors discuss requirements around maintaining a bank balance upon entry, particularly 500,000 baht for the DTV visa, while sharing personal experiences and opinions on whether immigration officers frequently ask for proof of funds or if it is only a requirement upon initial entry. There is a consensus that while the original visa requirements mention certain monetary conditions, the enforcement can vary significantly based on the immigration officer's discretion.

Basically no one knows 100% either way.

500k is required for the visa we know that much.

Its up to you wether or not you maintain that amount or not and you will have to deal with the consequences at immigration if you do get challenged.

Personally I maintain that amount in my account because I dont want even the slightest risk at immigration.

Up to you.

You should only have the 500k when entering the country, in case you get pulled aside for questioning

To me the claim that officer can ask proof of 500K every time you enter sounds equal to a claim that traffic police can demand you to show your medical certificate every time they stop you. And ban you from driving on if you cannot present the certificate.

500K is a visa APPLICATION requirement, just as the medical certificate is a driver license APPLICATION requirement.

I honestly don’t understand why people even ask this. Just have the ฿500,000 in your account. Why take an unnecessary risk over something so simple? Whether they ask to see it or not, just have it there. Better safe than sorry.

I personally wouldn’t risk it. And honestly, people constantly trying to find ways around the requirements or looking for loopholes is part of the reason rules eventually get tightened and everyone gets more scrutiny. If Thailand sets requirements for a visa, just follow them. It makes life easier for everyone.

I agree. Unfortunately, not everyone can keep 500,000 baht available. Some never even had it in the first place. Not long ago, in the days of unlimited visa exempt border bounces, the fear was being unable to show 20,000 baht in cash. Anyone who couldn't get their hands on 20,000 baht shouldn't be in Thailand (thinking accidents or serious illness). But here they are.

I’ve been in and out consistently for the past 2 years and I’ve never been asked. That’s not to say that they’ll never ask for it, but I’ve never ran into it.

My understanding is that the immigration officer on entry cannot cancel your visa but can deny you entry for reasons such as not having enough funds to sustain yourself. So they rarely ask people, but if you seem suspicious, they may ask for how much cash you have on you (20,000 baht equivalent minimum) and how much money you have accessible in bank accounts.

Maybe, maybe not. I think there's a possibility.

LongTimeLivingInThailand If requested to complete a Passenger Statement Form the financial details required are; 1) Cash, 2) Bank balance and 3) Other. There is no published requirement to maintain a bank balance of 500,000 baht post application. Logically, there must be a minimum acceptable total amount of funds to permit entry. However, it has previously been suggested that these forms are obtained for statistical purposes only.

No. Don’t even bother unless you’re entering for the first time. The IO didn’t even glance at me today.

Don't mind these idiots that don't know how to answer a question straight. It depends on the day if the immigration officer wants to ask you. Sometimes they don't. Last year it was a lot less frequent, but evidently from the page over the last few months. A lot more people have been getting stopped and asked to produce their accounts.

'A lot more people have been getting stopped and asked to produce their accounts'. Untrue. Very rare verifiable reports of DTV holders being asked to complete Passenger Statement Forms at Phuket and Chiang Mai airports only. Almost always upon first entry.

It is not a mandatory requirement to show the 500k THB upon reentry. You could be asked about it though but very few are.

It’s 500,000 THB for initial application. They could ask to see when entering on DTV the 1st time, maybe yes. But afterwards: no more questions when re-entering again and again.

there is no extension in country, you leave and re-enter

realistically it is not an option, vast majority of people are told by IO to leave the country when they try to extend, they do not want to deal with it

It is not in my province, there are a couple instances where it was granted in Thailand but generally people get turned down when trying to apply for it, you need to search the group if you don't believe me

We know for sure that there is no such requirement to provide sight of 500,000 baht upon entry.

Can you evidence that claim?
Mich ***********
Mich ***********
@Asso *****
it states you need 500k for the DTV visa therefore it would be reasonable to infer maintaining this amount for reentry is nessassary unless clearly stated otherwise.

Obviously your free to do as you wish, good luck to you.
Mich ***********
Mich ***********
My point still stands. You are stating your opinion as a fact, when you can provide no evidence that showing the required funds for the visa is not required on re-entry. You dont know wether or not the Immigration will request to see the required funds and good luck argueing that it isnt wriiten on the website with Immigration. The amount is required for the visa, we know that for a fact.
Asso ******

@Mich **********
The way we know for sure is that if this was a requirement at a border bounce, it would be clearly stated on official website(s), just as all the real requirements are. It is stated nowhere. The only place this requirement has ever been stated, is in a bunch of anonymous posts... and some non-anonymous posts boldly claiming that an IO can always demand whatever they want and can always deny you entry, if they want, based on any imaginary requirement they can think of. I have entered on the DTV about 8 times by now. I have never been asked anything other than the printed visa.

I have also not seen any credible non-anonymous reports of that having ever happened
Honest *******

@Mich **********
Of course you are! As you will know as a DTV holder (you are aren't you?) there are no ongoing requirements beyond either extending or exiting before 180 days and exiting before 360. With other visas such as Non-O marriage and retirement, apart from the bank account balance required for application, there are published conditions about maintaining balances. If you are of the opinion that a DTV holder must hold a bank account balance of 500,000 baht to be permitted entry then the onus is upon yourself to point the group to that published requirement. You need to improve upon your trolling.
Mich ***********

Such an odd thing to say! You stated "We know for sure that there is no such requirement to provide sight of 500,000 baht upon entry" im just asking you how you know "for sure" what proof do you have? Im not trolling you just trying to establish the facts
