Hi, I will be travelling from Cambodia to Australia in February. My first flight will be from Phnom Phen to Bangkok (arrival in Bangkok: Feb 13 around 7pm). I have to collect my baggage and check-in again for my second flight to Sydney (self-transfer, so I will leave the transit area). Departure time is a few minutes after midnight at Feb 14. So, my question is: do I need to get a visa in Thailand for those 5 hours? Or is there some sort of exception?
Thank you for your efforts!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is inquiring whether a visa is required for a short layover in Thailand, specifically when arriving from Cambodia to Bangkok and then self-transferring to a flight to Sydney. Comments indicate that the necessity for a visa depends on the passenger's nationality and circumstances; generally, a transit visa may be required unless the individual qualifies for visa exemption.
Transit visa unless you are eligible for visa exempt. To pass immigration you need to be allowed into Thailand. Hopefully you don't have a long history of staying inside Thailand
