Hi guys! Would we still need visa to hold in BKK airport for about 5hours and get a connecting flight (after 5hrs on a different flight) without getting out of the transit zone?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a layover at Bangkok airport (BKK) for about 5 hours and do not plan to leave the transit zone, you do not need a visa. If your flights are booked on the same ticket, your luggage will be checked through to your final destination, and you can proceed through the transit area without clearing immigration. However, if your flights are booked separately, you will need to clear immigration to collect your luggage and check in again.

What’s important is whether you booked this on ONE TICKET with one PNR or you have two separate tickets. If it’s all booked on one ticket your luggage will be checked through to destination, you will be a CIQ passenger in transit and you’ll pass through a special security line and go to your gate. If it’s two separate tickets, you will have to clear Immigration in oder to claim your luggage, check in again and go through outgoing passport control and security. If you are a Cambodian national, you’re eligible for a free 14-day visa exemption, so you do not require a visa.
If you are connecting to a Domestic flight inside Thailand you will need to clear Thai Immigration in Bangkok upon arrival.

Are you connecting to another flight OUT of Thailand? If you are...no visa needed. You are IN TRANSIT. FOLLOW the TRANSIT signs upon arrival in your Bangkok airport.
will your airline check your luggage to your final destination? Upon arrival at Bangkok airport follow the signs to TRANSIT. I have not done this before. I am sure others will reply.

If your luggage has not been checked through to your final destination, you will very likely have to clear immigration to get your luggage.
