my visa is until july 25th. and my flight out of thailand is on august 29th. if applying for 30 day visa extension, then i have 5 days left to pay overstay. which is the best option to fly to another country and stay there 5 days and fly back.
Answer summary
The user's visa expires on July 25th, while their flight is on August 29th, creating a risk of overstay. Comments suggest that the user should either apply for a 30-day extension at a cost of 1,900 baht or leave Thailand before the visa expires to avoid the penalties associated with overstaying. Options for nearby destinations like Laos or Cambodia are recommended for a short trip, as they can return on a visa-exempt entry, thereby avoiding visa application complications. Most comments emphasize the importance of not overstaying to avoid serious repercussions with Thai immigration.

Arrived at Suvarnabhumi on Sunday at 23:30.
All good, but man infrastructure of us had overstays in his passport.
apply for a second extension, it will get rejected but they will give you 7 more days to sort out your affairs in the country before leaving. at least they did with me 8 or 9 years ago.
Ugh, why, why, why do people continue to do this? Do you not look at a calendar when planning your trip and booking your flights? We'll, there's a lot of good advise here, pay attention to it. DO NOT overstay if You ever want to come back. ANY overstay will get You flagged in the system. Have You looked into just changing Your flight?
True, I sincerely hope you can either change your flight or arrange to leave and re-enter or obtain suitable extension. What ever option you decide upon just make sure you do not get flagged for overstay. Good luck and hopefully lesson learned, plan more carefully in the future.
Do not take the extension. Just go to visit any country now for about a week, then return on another 60 visa exempt entry. That puts you past your flight date. When you develop a pattern of being an actual tourist, visiting other countries around Thailand, you don't set off red flags with immigration. Taking the 30 day extension, and leaving the country, and coming back right before it all expires, sets off immigration for special attention, as you are setting a pattern of trying to stay here long term on visa exempt entries. Go visit another country now, and it looks like you are an actual tourist, and that is good. If you met someone you don't want to be away from take them with.
If you consider to leave the county anyway, you may could do this soon and come back on visa exempt for 60 days. But you have to check the Royal Gazette to return before the visa exempt will be reduced to 30 days. Keep in mind that the immigration may ask you for the 20k THB and an onward ticket.
Either leave before your 30 days extension is up and return visa exempt on the day of your flight home or go for another extension at the end of your 30 day extension with your exit flight detail and get the extension denied 7 days to leave Thailand stamp for 1900B. Never overstay.
Get the 30 day extension. If that doesn’t cover you, go back and get the 7 day get out of Thailand extension. It also costs 1900฿. Do anything and everything to not overstay.
