Do I need a return flight for a NON-O retirement visa application at the Brussels Embassy?

Hi , I'm filling up the details for a non O retirement visa at the Brussels Embassy. Now I have to give in my flight number. I haven't booked a flight yet because I'm not sure if I can come in with a onward flight. Or do I have to book a return flight? Why would I need a return flight if I want to stay there? Thank you for support.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Non-O retirement visa, you are only required to provide flight information for your arrival, not a booked ticket. It is recommended to enter an exit flight within 90 days of your arrival flight, as the Non-O visa typically grants a 90-day stay. However, you do not need to have a return flight booked if you intend to stay longer.

NON O visa is a long-term visa and don't require a return flight you can book a single ticket .

They are asking for INFORMATION, not a ticket. Go lookup a flight and put the information in. The non-O visa only provides 90 days, so put an exit flight within 90 days of the flight you put in for arrival.

I am suspending you because you are giving this person bad and incorrect information. Stop trying to talk about things you are patently wrong about. This is a REQUIRED field on the visa application. You CANNOT skip it. No one is talking about onward travel, only you. You are the one bringing wrong information into this conversation.

Airline search gives you the flight number. Even google flights shows you the flight numbers.

sure but you need to buy à flight before you get the flightnumber. A onward flight costs 400 euro's. A retour ticket costs 1100 euro's. If I can stay longer then 90days, I will loose 700 euro's. Or not ? Thank you anyway.

Why would you need to buy a flight? Search for flights, it gives you the flight number right there. Put that into the application. No purchase necessary.

Visa applications absolutely, 100% ask for return date. The airline and immigration don't ask, but the application does.

Good that it worked out for you, but it’s probably not advisable to leave fields blank in an application when they are explicitly requested.

I had no return date so I didn’t put one especially since I was planning on staying by processing an extension of stay. I also figured if they wanted one they could always inquire by asking for additional information — they did ask for an additional document from DFAS.

Plus I thought it better not to put something on my application I knew was a lie!!

110 times in Thai, never ever been asked for my retrurn flight.

My eVisa, 90 days rertirement, nobody asked anything. Entering on my 1 year extension, October 29 2025 no fcuk gave a sh1t about my flights.

Stop panicking the posters.

Do you understand that this has nothing to do with an onward travel requirement -a Non O visa is exempt from any onward ticket requirement, but they are simply asking for a travel plan when you apply for the visa itself.

Nobody asked me for my travel plans when I applied and got eVisa Non O 90 days.

How could they? If I extend my Non O for another 12 monts, who the hell would chase that?

When was that? Oh, before the eVisa was introduced wasn't it? There we go. Your experience from years ago has very little relevance to an application made today.

I’m not trying to contradict your view, but the e-visa portal is fairly standardised, and I had to enter a travel plan when I applied for a 90 day Non O visa for a friend just a couple of weeks ago. I also had to do the same when I applied for my own visa last year.

It is purely a technical formality. No tickets are uploaded, and you are anyway free to travel at any time within 90 days frame from the date the visa is issued.

They ask for a travel plan with a specific flight number in the e-visa portal. No flight tickets are required or requested.
