TLDR : Answer Summary
For a retirement visa application in Thailand, a one-year rent contract is not typically required; however, it may vary based on the specific immigration office's regulations. It is advisable to consult directly with the local immigration office to obtain their specific requirements.

Normally not, but it will depend on your immigration office. Each office has their own requirements. You need to go to your immigration office and ask them for their handout of requirements for a 1 year extension based on retirement (not a retirement visa, an extension)
