TLDR : Answer Summary
Bringing a .22 air rifle into Thailand poses legal challenges for foreigners. According to recent laws, foreigners cannot apply for a firearms permit or license in Thailand, and air guns are classified as firearms. Therefore, it is prohibited for foreigners to possess or use these weapons. While there are shooting ranges available in Thailand, they typically only allow Thais to use their own guns, whereas foreigners can only rent. If you're interested in the shooting sport, it is recommended to join a club once back home instead.

I'd say bring it in and let the group know which customs confiscate it

PS There are quite a few gun clubs. Many in the Bangkok metro area. If you you know a Thai shooter that has military connections…there are military ranges that you can accompany him for target shooting.
William *******
If you have a Thai wife she can own a firearm and bring it to a shooting club where you can shoot trap, skeet or five stand at the club at the Olympic center in Bangkok.

Why would you even want to bring a rifle over here? 🤔🤔

Another great reason to love Thailand and feel so much saver knowing weapons designed to kill people are not allowed. Even trained users like police sometimes make mistakes resulting in serious consequences.

I did accidentally bring an air rifle into Thailand in a container too, I didn’t know at the time it was illegal. I just kept it in the house and used it in the yard from time to time. Never had any issues. If you do bring it I wouldn’t recommend telling a lot of people about it. Also, I think it might be legal even if you can find plastic pellets for it as from my understanding the difference between a gun which requires a license and one which doesn’t is whether or not the projectiles are metal. High power BB guns with plastic, gel, or glass ammunition are legal.

They have shooting ranges in Thailand
Prinse ********
You have to differentiate two types of ranges: Tourist DTL fun place. Of course, in tourist areas and I’m not sure if they are operational at the moment. And official shooting sport clubs where you have to become a member and can rent guns during the respective activities.

Foreigners are banned from possessing and using guns in Thailand after the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) passed amendments to the Weapon, Firearm, Explosive and Firework Act Thursday. According to the newly amended law, only Thais can register guns with authorities.Oct 13, 2560 BE

Not allowed, it's gas powered which in essence is the same as any other fire arm, they are all powered by expanding gas.

Not possible for foreigners. Air guns are concidered firearms, and foreigners are not allowed to get a gun permit.
Flo *****
@Ulrik ********
didn't know that, another stupid rule..
Ross ************
Unless things have changed since this foreigners cannot apply for firearms permit or licence in Thailand
