Multi Entry Tourist Visa for Baby

We are heading to Thailand on a multi-entry tourist visa.

If we apply for one for our Baby has anyone had experience with this? For example do you still need to prove £5k in Bank for 6 months for the baby? Surely not?

I Am waiting to hear back from London Embassy.

Any info would be awesome.

Thanks everyone.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry is about the necessity of obtaining a multi-entry tourist visa for a baby traveling to Thailand and whether financial proof, typically required for adults, is needed for infants. Responses clarify that all travelers, regardless of age, technically require a visa unless they qualify for visa-exempt entry; however, children are not usually mandated to provide financial documentation for the visa application. It is also noted that children under 15 cannot be fined for overstaying.

Officially every traveller needs a visa (or nationality that allows exempt/waived entry) regardless of age.

The embassy are not going to require children to have financial details to approve a visa. I do not know their policy on at what age that would change but my guess would be at least 18.

A UK National is eligible for a visa exempt entry (even babies) so there is no real need for them to actually have any form of visa. Children under 15 cannot be fined for being on overstay either, so even if you had (as a parent) a tourist visa but the baby didn’t there wouldn’t be a issue if they stayed over the current 45 days.

yes that makes sense. I’m happy to get the Multi Entry Visa as it

Means he has one. But I can’t see anywhere official that says the requirements for a child. Hoping the embassy get back to me with confirmation. As we need money for 6 months

Be aware that London are known to issue a single entry visa if you cannot prove the need for a multi entry visa (and not refund the difference in fees). You need to show them a reason to issue a multiple entry visa - as in a flight out and back etc.

that’s good to know. So main thing is the flight right? We usually get a return flight anyway. Is there anything else you can send to prove need for Multi Entry Visa?

A need for a multiple entry one. I.e a flight to Vietnam in 45 days and a return to Thailand 15 days after. (Dates are just made up by me. )

wow that’s changed a lot then. So you need to book you visa run flights in advance?

Last time we got one we just had a main flight going in and out of Thailand a few months apart.

Interesting. Ok thanks.

Yes they do need a reason to issue a multiple entry over a single entry. Many reports of people applying for the multiple but being given a single, without recourse for a reimbursement for fee difference.
