As an Australian if I was to ride a motorcycle into Thailand from Malaysia would I be given a 30 day exempt entry like I get each time I fly in or is it a different rule for across land borders ?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Australian citizens entering Thailand via land borders from Malaysia are granted a 30-day visa exempt entry, similar to air travel. However, this entry can only be extended for an additional 30 days once per entry. Additionally, there is a limitation to entering twice a calendar year using this visa exempt scheme at land borders.

Time to close it down before more people try to think they know things.

15 days at land borders changed on 31 Dec 2016, a long time ago, so please update your personal memory.

There is a small difference, it will be the same period of 30 days Visa Exempt Entry and you can also extend this once with another 30 days but you can only enter twice a calendar year by land borders using this 30 day Visa Exempt Entry Scheme

just to clarify! I was going to fly to PP on the 28th but my mate in PP is sick. Now I'm thinking of land crossing at ChongJom/Osmach. Do Australian's get 30 days on re-entry? I am aware you can only do this twice a year. I will only be doing it once. Thanks.

It is not a re-entry. You enter to get a NEW 30 day Visa Exempt Entry.

I have flown in twice a year but unsure if there is a maximum amount of times. A good question.

@Robert ******
how many times can you fly in, using the Visa Exempt system in a year?

There is officially no maximum on how many times a year you can use the Visa Exempt Entry by air, but every time you have to hand over your passport to an Immigration Officer who has a duty to check why people come to Thailand.

yep, we are going for a retirement visa so we won't be doing it too often ourselves.

Thank you very much. That answer sounds like something I can plan around.
