Can Australian visitors extend their stay by doing a border run at Mae Sai?

We're wanting to take our Australian visitors with us on our border run to MaeSai... they came into Thailand on visa exempt ten days ago. Is it safe to assume they can come along and be stamped out and back in again on another exempt entry, giving them another 30 days?

Many thanks in advance :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Australian visitors who entered Thailand on a visa exempt can indeed accompany the hosts on a border run to Mae Sai. Upon re-entry, they should receive another 30-day visa exempt entry. However, it's important to note that there is a limitation of two exempt entries by land per calendar year. If they plan to stay longer, they might need to consider this restriction.

okay, and I believe that the O/P has enough information to take their visitors on a border bounce with them (y)

Good Luck :)

Just a side note to be aware of... you are only permitted to do two exempt entries per calendar year by land. So, if they plan on sticking around for a while and border bouncing, this would knock them down to one left this year. This does not affect exempt entries by air or entering by land with an actual visa.
