Hi everyone. I'm looking for actual firsthand experience. Anyone got a TIN after less than 180 days on DTV?
Please only reply if you personally went to a Thai Revenue Office and tried to get a TIN while on a DTV visa.
Answer summary
The inquiry is about the possibility of obtaining a Tax Identification Number (TIN) from a Thai Revenue Office while on a DTV visa for less than 180 days. A response indicates that it is generally required to demonstrate income to qualify for a TIN, and since individuals on a DTV are not allowed to work, the acceptable sources of income may include remittances, rental income, or interest from a Thai bank, but typically TIN issuance may be processed only after fulfilling the 180-day requirement.

Yes. I did. In Chiang Mai. You will only get a TIN if you can demonstrate income. So that on a DTV, since you are not allowed to work within Thailand, income would likely be remitted money into Thailand (but this one only after 180 days if strictly speaking), or rental income, or income from interest gained from a Thai bank account.
