Hi. I'm looking at getting my DTV in Australia. if I just do a short cooking course does that grant the full 5 years? the other thing I was looking at was the 5 year Thai fruits and herbs lectures. any suggestions?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To qualify for a DTV visa in Australia, a short cooking course is insufficient; candidates typically need to enroll in a program for at least 6 months. Some respondents suggested exploring longer courses or the Thai Fruits and Herbs lectures, while recommending specific institutions like Arun Thai Cooking. It is also advisable to connect with course providers directly for clarity on visa eligibility.
Use the search, and get the detailed answers, that has been written numerous times.

Talk to the Plants and Herbs people on Whats-App. They are very responsive and will tell you where recent applicants have been successful. As for shorter courses there are currently no issues doing those and re-entering without further booked courses.
I will be going for the same in a year if it’s still about and have seen those same courses and people being granted the visa.

A short cooking course won't get you a DTV, you need to sign up for at least 6 months, preferably a bit longer. The other option you mention seems a bit hit or miss
