TLDR : Answer Summary
The ability for children to attend international schools in Thailand on a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) varies by institution. Some international schools may accept students on a DTV, while others may only admit children with an Education Visa (ED) linked to their school or a different visa type. Checking specific school policies is essential, as experiences differ widely. Additionally, children under 14 often do not require a visa, which simplifies their enrollment. There are differing opinions about education quality and cultural experiences between international and Thai public schools, further complicating the decision.

Of course they can and they would be welcomed. Do you own research where you live on what is available. Don't ask here so many misinformed and haters. Parent the way you like your children but l would even send my kids to public school it depends on where you are living and age of children.

children under 14 do not need a visa (Children under 14are generally not subject to fines for overstaying their permitted stay in Thailand).

It will depend on the school. Some will accept DTV, some others will not and accept them on ED; you'll need to check with the school.

International school shouldn't be a problem. However, the public school system is most likely closed to you since you are not a tax resident.

That and you're doing a big disservice for your children/offspring if as a foreigner you send your kids to a Thai school.

Also the language barrier will be another issue.

Anonymous participant 644 Thailand is not an English speaking country. It depends on each individual circumstance in Thailand. Location may be a contributing factor but also what are the circumstances of the family. International schools are very expensive also and dependent on the age and learning ability of the child Yiu may be wasting your money. How long will the family be in Thailand. Consider the cultural experience by attending govt school the child would learn more than educational subjects. What l am saying is there is not a one size fits all many factors to consider. If it was a Thai student in another country that child would gain so much from attending a govt school = language, culture, friendships, education ,completly life changing and so it works the other way also

If they are still small, it might make sense to send them to a normal public school for one or two years, after which they will be able to speak Thai perfectly, which is not the case with children at international schools.

Depends on a school. Montessori school in Chiang Mai would accept our child on DTV.

Big international school won’t accept on DTV, they accept non-o or ED from their school. But you could change visa type here inside Thailand

I think there was one post in here where a school said no but the overwhelming majority will take your money.

Yes, kids can attend international schools. In my experience in Bangkok, the school didn’t even ask for a visa during enrollment. so it’s best to check with the school to make sure you’re following the rules.

If your child goes to am international school, they can get an education visa and then you can get a "guardian" visa?

not if you're a single mother with 3 kids, the number of kids you can have on a guardian visa is capped

If their child is in education for the next 10 years, it's a no brainer in my opinion... no border bounces every 180 days either

I appreciate your answer. I assumed the education visa would be for college age but could it apply to primary or high school? I'll look into it but happy to hear your understanding.

You need to ask the school. Some schools don't care about visa status. Some only require that they're on a legal stay. And some require they be on an ED supported by that school.
