TLDR : Answer Summary
The question asks whether individuals can successfully apply for a visa from their home country while currently holding a tourist visa in Thailand. Several comments discuss differing opinions on the legality and risks of applying under these circumstances, emphasizing the necessity of being in the correct country for application. Notably, some users share personal experiences, indicating that while some have managed to apply, there are significant concerns about potential dishonesty on applications and the validation of residency claims, as current regulations often require applicants to be outside Thailand.

Mike Vineyard I read the whole discussion and you are wondering why nobody answers your question.

The main reason nobody answers you this question might be that you ask for people who did get the visa illegaly, ignoring official rules.

I think most people will not take that risk, but even when the did they might not say this in a group for everybody to read.

Don't forget that even when they do not see immediately, your fraud will be visible for the whole 5 year period because the start date of your visa will be within a stamped period in your passport.

And when you are now really in Thailand on a tourist visa as you tell, they also might easily see you already have a valid visa registrated during the approval process of the DTV.

Of course there is a possibility you want get problems, there are also people getting away with other crimes.

I know a friend that did it and got approved but it was like right after the visa launched. He did e visa from his country. I think I read somewhere that your country of residence counts, so it might be okay. However, I’ve also read on there that you must be out of Thailand. Anyways, the friend came back to Thailand no problem.

Personally I lean towards caution here because this visa is so awesome. 5 years of easy living in Thailand is worth it spending a week out. For example in Taiwan where I applied it and got it it’s a 2 business day turn around time but I spent a week there.

I’ve also read and heard you must be out of Thailand, but obviously some people have not done that.

Also I err to the side of caution because if it turns out they don’t like people applying within Thailand then there’s a paper trail proving you were in Thailand when you approved. And this could happen with some immigration officer in a bad mood.

Ultimately, with it taking <1 week in so many other places currently I decided to do that and be safe rather than risk it, but I do know one friend that applied and received the e visa within Thailand and returned no problem.

TROLL Alert.

I'm sure people have done it, but they would have to lie on their application. The application asks which country you currently are in and Thailand is not an option. They would have to say that they are not in Thailand, risking rejection (not sure if there would be any other consequences).

Some many comments and not one person has actually answered the question that was asked 🥱

maybe because others have actually understood

this: "It is important to note that you are only able to apply if you are currently not in Thailand..."

A successful application is easy, a successful approval is a completely different matter.

That's why I asked for people to reply who have actually applied

Okay if you're gonna have it your way burger king then why ask the question or wait for answers? Fill your boots with your own suppositions. Everyone gave the same answer, except you.

I'm not exactly sure what that means. If everyone gives the same answer that does not mean they are giving you the correct answer only the most common one.

It’s brilliant when people ask a question or advise and then argue…😂

Thank you for the compliment. I've always wanted to be brilliant. One thing to consider is hat no one is actually answering the question I asked... because they are not qualified to answer it. I'm asking if anyone has successfully applied for an evisa. If they are not answering the question I asked and not authorities of Thailand why should I listen to them?

@Mike *********
maybe no one answer the question because they read the requierments and actually understood the meaning of this: "It is important to note that you are only able to apply if you are currently not in Thailand..."

Also, one requierment is "document indicating current location". This can NOT be Thailand.

Do you keep questioning what everyone has commented so far, because you don't like the fact that applications should be made from outside Thailand?! 🤔

if they can't answer the question why are they commenting?. If you can't answer the question why are you commenting? I don't like or not like the answers. I'm impartial. I do find the assumptions and statements fascinating. Humans have a great ability to "fill in the blanks" and create narratives that don't exist. One example of this is you filling in the blanks on the reasoning for my questions. You don't know me so your only option is to fill in the blank information. This is the part I find interesting.

Mike Vineyard If you're learning impaired, why are you asking a question that you won't be able to intellectually process the answer anyway?

glad you found it somewhat interesting...

My reason for commenting is to inform, since your question seemed to be written with lack of knowledge/information...

Even they didn’t say on website that you have to stay at the country that you want to apply but they want entry stamp for sure. That’s why you have to go the country you want to apply

The rule remains the same. Of course, you can always cheat but lying in a visa application is a criminal offense and can be barred from entering for the lifetime. Do it at your own risk? Are you so desperate that you cannot even go to a neighboring country, or you are doing it for academic exercise?

you're making a lot of assumptions and don't appreciate your accusations. Show me where the rules state what you are stating?
Deepak *******
Mike Vineyard I am not here to post rules. Why are you asking questions here, then? You don't know how to find rules for your visa application. I think you want to cheat and are trying to get approval from others. As I said, it's up to you. You want to cheat; go ahead and cheat, but there can be consequences for that; if not caught, you will win.
