Hello, quick visa question, has any non european resident been able to apply for a tourist visa in any Thai embassy in Europe? Are they strict with the must be resident rule? Or what should I show instead of resident proof?

Thank you in advance guys!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Non-European residents can apply for a tourist visa at Thai embassies in Europe if they are not from countries that require in-country visa applications, like India or China. However, many EU countries may not issue visas to non-residents, so it's essential to check the specific requirements of the Thai embassy in the country you are considering.

Many EU countries no longer issue visas to non residents.

Go read each countries Thai Embassy your even thinking of applying through

That's the first I've heard of that.

it's the way the world is moving.

Many countries worldwide require residency or long term leave to remain.

Wait until all countries move to Evisa, that will be the end of visa runs.

Visa runs are about to be a dream.

Why spend countless hours in a bus to go to the border and sit in a shitty hotel while you wait for your new visa when I can just apply for a new tourist visa from the Washington DC embassy through Evisa while I'm sitting in my Bangkok condo. I'll have my visa email and Thailand Pass before I ever even take a short taxi or train ride to the airport. I'll take a quick flight to Singapore and see the beautiful airport then head back and stamp in with my TR visa. So easy and cheap.

Idk about that, Evisas would make visa runs easier because you don't need to spend 3 days in a country waiting for the visa application.

Garrett here is a quite from Barrows meeting yesterday with the MFA.

'I want to be quite clear here. Although the Thailand Pass is a project under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is the Ministry of Public Health who are responsible for verifying the vaccine certificates. This can quite often be done automatically. Thailand is part of a 30-member group of countries that share a PKI (public key infrastructure) for vaccination certificates. This will allow them to instantly authenticate the certificate. I haven’t seen a list of countries, but I am told that most are in Europe'

Garrett in theory, yes but in reality, unlikely.

First you need booked and paid for flights from YOUR country's passport.

You for instance, couldn't apply via London using Evisa, the same as I can't apply via the US.

These rent a tickets aren't going to last a whole lot longer.

Intelligence is now being shared.

Even Barrow has been told that 30, mostly EU countries have signed up to Thailand and sharing people's health and vaccination status.

There is a system going in place, or it may already be in place regarding passports and booked air tickets.

Basically, your being cleared to fly weeks before you even attempt it

As long as you're not from a country that requires in-country visa applications (India and China mostly), you can apply for a tourist visa at any Thai embassy in the world. The 9 month Special Tourist Visa, 6 month multiple entry tourist visa (which isn't currently being issued), and the Non-OA are the only 3 visas that can ONLY be applied for in your home country or country of legal residence.

Not true. The Thai embassy in France and Switzerland don't issue visas to non-residents since ages.

thank you for your reply, my question is because on the website for the thai embassy Madrid it specifically says if you’re not a resident and don’t have the residence card, cannot apply for visa there. So I am confused about this part of the rules.

It seems Spain is not eligible for e-visa yet

try the consulate in Gibraltar. Guy there is really friendly. Not sure if they use the evisa system yet or if you’d need to visit in person, but contact them to ask.
