Question folks. My wife’s non-b working visa will expired on august. Due to this pandemic, she got laid off from her work. She’s pregnant and her due to give birth is only few days before her visa expired. Now, can we get a special visa extension for her since she’s giving birth and cannot be able to travel probably for a month?

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about obtaining a special visa extension for their pregnant wife whose Non-B working visa is set to expire shortly after her due date and who is unable to travel due to medical reasons. A comment suggests that if the wife has a valid visa or an extension, she may not need further action. If she has an extension of stay, it can be extended for medical reasons through the hospital, which can assist with the application process.

1. Did your wife have a visa ("The sticker"), or an extension of stay ("the stamp"). If your wife has the visa, there is nothing else she needs to do. If she has the stamp, did she get it cancelled?

2. Your wife and the hospital can apply for an extension of stay due to medical reasons. This extension of stay cost 1,900THB, and your hospital can be able to process the paperwork. This extension of stay is as valid for as long as the treatment is ongoing.

she got the stamp. She was filing that 90 days report before.

So an extension of stay based on employment. Make sure that's cancelled, and then she can get an extension of stay based on medical reasons.

her visa will expire on August 23. Her due will be on August 22nd. When do you think we should ask her HR to cut cancel her visa. Should i apply for the extension based on medical reason before her visa gets cancelled or I can apply after?

August is about two months away, I recommend waiting for more information. To my knowledge, she will have to cancel the extension of stay based on employment in person, and some roads in Thailand can be bumpy which can be very painful for a pregnant lady. In early August, I would talk to the employer and the doctor and get their advice when she should go to convert her extension of stay based on employment to an extension of stay based on medical reasons.

I also recommend following this group, and the news as well.

thank you for your reply. Yes she has non b visa in which the company will cut on august together with her work permit. Not sure what is “the sticker” and “the stamp” is.

There are two ways a person can work in Thailand. The first is with a Non-B visa. This is a full page "sticker" that is valid for 90 days. The "stamp" is an extension of stay based on employment, which allows a person to stay in Thailand, employed, but requires filing a 90 day report every 90 days.
