Can my mom change from a non-o to retirement visa? She used to hold non-o for medical purpose and later change to covid19.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, your mom can potentially switch from a Non-O visa to a retirement visa in Thailand, but there are specific requirements to meet. It's essential to visit the immigration office to inquire about the process, especially since her current Non-O visa was initially issued for medical purposes. She may face challenges if her visa details indicate it was strictly for medical reasons. To qualify for a retirement visa, she will need to have 800,000 baht in her own Thai bank account for at least two months before applying for the extension.

you need to go to the immigration office and ASK there. If it is written on the visa itself that the Non-O was for medical reasons they might not let her get an extension based on retirement.

She would need to have 800K baht in a thai bank account in her name only for 2 months before she applies for the year extension based on being over 50 (retirement)
